PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN

We love our volunteers and appreciate every one of you. In order to keep our students safe, we follow the diocese’s policy on protecting God’s children. If you are planning to be a room parent, help with school parties or drive for field trips, you must have a background check and a one-time Virtus Training.  In addition, please pick up a release form in the office if you wish to volunteer. If you do not sign it, you will not be able to volunteer in the school. If you have questions or concerns about these policies, please feel free to contact the school office at 315-769-5911. Thank you for your cooperation.  Please note: a Virtus training has been scheduled for 9/25 at 6:30 PM in the school cafeteria.  Childcare will be provided for Trinity families.  Please register here.   Click on “Begin the Registration Process,” then, search for the Ogdensburg Diocese, and look for the training on 9/25 at Trinity.

 PARENT/STUDENT HANDBOOK

Parents….please make sure you turn in the small sheet of paper that was included in your Yearly Calendar, which was given out at Visitation Day.  The calendar is your parent/student handbook, and that small piece of paper acknowledges that you have read the handbook.

TRINITY NAMES NEW PRINCIPALprincipal

We are excited to announce that Joyce Giroux has been named as our school’s new principal. We are pleased that we have been able to hire someone who is knowledgeable about our school’s culture and who deeply understands and upholds our school’s mission.

As you know, Mrs. Giroux is not new to Trinity, having worked as our music teacher for 24 years, teaching general music, band, instrumental lessons and chorus, as well as directing 24 mini-musicals throughout her tenure here.

She received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Education from the highly selective Manhattan School of Music, as well as an Educational Administration Certification from the University of Montana.   She taught grades Kindergarten through 12 at schools in Brooklyn, New Jersey and Montana, before settling in Massena in 1994.

Mrs. Giroux looks forward to the opportunity to serve and give back to the Trinity Community that welcomed her with open arms 24 years ago.  “I have overcome some tragedies in my life that have given me the ability to help people see through the difficult times and treat them with empathy and compassion.  I accept the challenge of continuing the legacy that has been established through the years and ask for your prayers and support as I work hard to offer a well-rounded Christian education to our students,” she said.

 WELCOME NEW FACULTY!

“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”  Socrates

We are excited by the growth our school is undergoing.  Although there are a lot of changes going on here at Trinity, we view them as great opportunities for our students and families.  Please welcome these wonderful ladies to our faculty:

Mrs. Jamie Barnum will take Mrs. Giroux’s position as our new music teacher.  Mrs. Barnum has owned and operated a private piano studio for many years here in Massena as well in Canada.  She has been involved in accompanying in the community as well as serving at Sacred Heart for Saturday mass.  Along with her degree from the Royal Conservatory of Music, University of Toronto and two years at a Theological College, Mrs. Barnum is presently studying for her MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) certificate.  Mrs. Barnum’s experience has allowed her to teach in many settings over the years and she is excited to share once again in a private school system.  Music education has been a source of great joy and fulfillment in her life and she is thrilled to pass on this passion to her new students at Trinity.

Alanna Tyo will join our Kindergarten team.   Mrs. Tyo holds a Bachelor’s degree in French as a Second Language from the University of Ottawa and will finish her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education in December 2018.  Mrs. Tyo comes to TCS with 8 years of teaching experience and aims to “bring joy to the classroom while allowing students the chance to become creative, critical thinkers.”

Christine Millhausen will be our new third grade teacher.  Mrs. Millhausen received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, as well as her Master’s Degree with a Concentration in Reading, from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut.  Mrs. Millhausen comes to TCS with 11 years of experience in Special Education, and as a classroom teacher in public and private schools in Kindergarten and grades 3- 6 in schools in Texas, the Bronx, and the North Country.   Mrs. Millhausen says, “It’s very important for me to motivate my students to not only succeed academically but to also give them the skills to achieve in all aspects of life.  I feel an essential part of teaching is to show children how to properly respect/treat others and themselves.”

Although not new to the school, we welcome former principal, Kathleen Behrens to second grade.  Mrs. Behrens is excited to go back to her first love and continue to work in the school.  She looks forward to being back in second grade and back in the classroom, especially since she will be able to teach her students about the sacraments this year.
