Academic and Extracurricular Programs

CURRICULUM: Trinity Catholic’s academic program provides a rigorous curriculum connected to New York State standards; in which all students are challenged to reach their potential. Religion is taught daily. Instruction in the basic teachings of the Catholic Church is supplemented by participation in daily prayer, the Liturgy, special liturgical year devotions during Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and special feast days. Trinity students’ lessons encompass a wide array of content in academic areas of literature, math, world culture, history, science, art, and music. A state of the art technology center and a science center are well used and add an important element in our education program. Physical Education, Music, Art, and Technology are provided to all students K-6. Students in grades 3-6 may participate in our Trinity Chorus and students in grades 5-6 may participate in the Trinity Band or Trinity Orchestra. Trinity has two Teacher Assistants to provide intervention for students in need of special assistance.

STUDY BUDDY: Students in grades 4-6 have access to a tutoring service provided by our 4-6 teachers. Students who are recommended for participation by their classroom teacher may receive extra help with homework and study skills on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Students who participate must be picked up promptly at 4:00 at the child’s classroom; or they may be dismissed to the After Care Program in the cafeteria.

CLUBS: Trinity students in grades 2-6 may participate in a variety of after school clubs throughout the school year. The following extracurricular activities are available for our students to participate in after school: Chess Club, PE Club, Art Club, Robotics Team, Battle of the Books Teams, and Kids’ Café. Notices go home advertising the meeting times and dates for each of these clubs. Parents must sign a permission slip if their child wants to participate and all students must be picked up promptly at the dismissal time of club meetings. Students may also be dismissed to the After Care Program in the cafeteria. We ask that students and parents show their appreciation for our teachers’ willingness to volunteer in coaching positions by respecting the rules and scheduled times for each after school activity.

BEFORE AND AFTER CARE PROGRAM: Mrs. Denise Neves provides a latch key service for our families who need it. Students may be dropped off before school at 7:00 a.m. and are dismissed to their classrooms at 8:15. After school care is provided from 3:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. on all school days and most early dismissal days. The cost is $3.00 per hour. Before Care is provided on mornings when there is a one hour delay; if school is delayed more than one hour there will be no Before School Care.

LIBRARY: Trinity Catholic has a well-equipped library and media center. Our library is fully automated and capable of searches within all the lending libraries in our BOCES region. Borrowed books must be returned on time and in good condition. Damaged or lost books must be paid for by the end of the school year.
